Outpost
The Outpost project was a technology demonstration of metal cutting in space, led by Nanoracks, in collaboration with Maxar Space Robotics. The broader purpose of the project was to pave the way for robotic outfitting of a spent rocket upper stage to convert it into an orbiting station.
I led the project in Pre-Phase A, and completed a study of a robotic architecture as well as initial conception and development tests of the friction milling concept. This was successfully demonstrated in orbit in 2022.
