Mars 2020 Sample Handling Assembly (SHA)
The SHA is a 3-joint robotic arm mounted to the underside of the Perseverance rover that manipulates sample tubes in the Sample Caching System (SCS) to acquire and cache samples collected by the rover for potential return to Earth.
I worked on the project while at Maxar as test engineer focused on the lead screw mechanism of the Z-stage, during life tests and design iterations. I also designed mechanical ground support equipment for thermal vacuum testing.
